Quintis Sandalwood has broken new ground with the creation of a new skincare range using Indian sandalwood (Santalum album) as the hero active ingredient.
The first-of-its kind skincare brand, called About Time We Met, is a science-led, gender-neutral range using Indian sandalwood oil and powder. All nine products within the collection are Australian made and contain Quintis’ Indian sandalwood oil, with inclusion levels ranging from 0.2% to 5%. Studies show that the proven benefits of the ancient ingredient start at just 0.1% with efficacy improving as inclusion levels increase. The powder is featured in the AHA Clay Mask at a concentration of 7%.
Consumer studies were also completed on two of its hero products – the Naturally Brilliant Oil containing 5% sandalwood oil and the Repair Serum containing 1% sandalwood oil – with impressive results. After just two weeks of using the oil, 100% of participants noticed an improvement in the overall appearance and condition of their skin with 81% noticing a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and 79% reporting feeling calmer after using the product, in line with sandalwood’s calming effects on the mind.
The Repair Serum reports equally impressive statistics with 100% of participants noticing their skin felt soothed and less irritated after one week of us, and 92% of participants noticing a reduction in the appearance of breakouts after four weeks of use.
Vanessa Ligovich, Chief Marketing Officer at Quintis Sandalwood, said of the new range, “We are so excited to be sharing this range with our clients. It is a live demonstration of Indian sandalwood’s powerful role as an active beauty ingredient and demonstrates how sandalwood can be combined with other ingredients.
We haven’t seen a range like this anywhere in the world. We believe we have created something that hits some of the key trends we’re seeing in the skincare space. Our mantra for the brand is ‘clean, clever, natural’. Each of the products is 98-100% natural, dermatologically tested and hypoallergenic. The range is PETA certified cruelty free and vegan, and we use FSC certified and post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic packaging.
The most compelling thing about the range though is that the hero ingredient, sandalwood, is supported by centuries of historic use and modern-day research. We have data that shows it is has effective antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tyrosinase and anti-microbial properties, and the consumer studies we conducted on two of the products support this.
It is our ambition to inspire every formulator interested in sourcing a high-quality, sustainable ingredient that delivers strong efficacy to realise the potential of this botanical active ingredient in their products.”
